Select 308LSi features a higher silicon content which delivers smooth bead appearance and good wetting action.
Features
- Bare stainless steel electrode of nominal composition ~21 wt% chromium (Cr), ~10 wt% nickel (Ni), ~0.8 wt% silicon (Si), and a maximum carbon (C) content of 0.03 wt%.
- Increased Si content compared to grades of similar alloy composition improves bead wetting and arc stability.
- Low C, < 0.03 wt%, minimizes carbide precipitation (sensitization) which makes the weld metal more resistant to intergranular corrosion.
- Unique manufacturing techniques provide enhanced arc stability and stable feeding.
Applications
- Applications for this alloy type include welding austenitic alloys of similar composition, 301, 302, 304, 304L, 308, and 308L.
